he Data Engineering Manager at Kaplan North America (KNA) within the Analytics division will work with world class psychometricians, data scientists and business analysts to forever change the face of education. This role is a hands-on technical expert who will own the design and implementation of an Enterprise Data Warehouse powered by AWS RA3 as a key feature of our Lake House architecture. The perfect candidate will be a talented people manager who also possesses strong technical knowledge in data engineering, data observability, Infrastructure automation, data ops methodology, systems architecture, and development. You will have experience managing an engineering team and have implemented large scale data engineering solutions consumed by a variety of applications and systems. Primary Responsibilities Provide leadership and management to a team of data engineers. You'll split your time between unblocking your team, vetting their designs, and coaching them to realize their full potential, while also building things yourself. Proactively mentor and grow the team, identify the required skills, hire the best talent, actively manage their performance and help them to grow to their fullest potential. Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability. Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines. Define & manage the team's work priorities as product owner. Define, measure and communicate DE plans, roadmaps, and performance metrics to the organization. Work across multiple teams in high visibility roles and own the solution end-to-end. Interface with engineers, developers, product managers, and business analysts to understand data needs. Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes. Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by management as needed. Minimum Qualifications Masters/Advanced Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Or Related Technical Field and/or MBA 6
years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing. Communication and leadership experience and experience initiating and driving projects. Data architecture experience. Experience with modern AWS analytics tools (Glue, Data Lake Formation, RA3, QuickSight) Experience performing data acquisition from source databases and APIs. Preferred Qualifications One or more AWS certifications Experience developing in an on-prem/hybrid environment Experience with cloud resource provisioning and configuration Experience with other major cloud providers (Azure, Oracle) Experience with other data modeling and visualization tools (Tableau) Experience developing solutions using Apache airflow, Lambda Functions, Glue Experience with Agile tools (Jira) Knowledge of CI/CD processes (GitHub Actions, AWSCode)
Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
